Idaho Humanities Council Invites Proposals for Spring 2022 Grants Round

The Idaho Humanities Council invites major grant applications supporting projects involving Idaho citizens that focus on literature, history, philosophy, art history, archaeology and other humanities disciplines. The Council further invites applications that encourage participation from all of Idaho’s diverse populations and reach out to under-served audiences. As Idaho continues to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask all grant applications to adhere to local health guidelines with in-person programming.

Major Grants are for projects seeking funding over $1,000. Initial applications are due December 15.  IHC staff will review these initial applications and respond with recommendations. Final applications will then be due on January 15. Grants over the years have supported museum and library exhibits, oral history projects, heritage tourism projects, literary events, special lectures, the preservation of historical photo archives, community-wide reading programs, humanities-focused conferences, and a variety of projects and programs that inspire community dialogue in the humanities.

Grant guidelines to the online grant application are available on the IHC website: www.idahohumanities.org under “Grants.” The website also includes a listing of recent grant awards and other general information.  Notice of decisions for major grants will be emailed after March 1.

Applicants are encouraged to reach out to Doug Exton, Program Officer, to discuss any ideas or ask questions prior to submitting a proposal. Do not be afraid to apply if you have never received an IHC grant in the past, nor if your idea is not a “traditional” program format.

The Idaho Humanities Council is a non-profit organization serving as the state-based partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities, dedicated to promoting public understanding and lifelong learning through literature, history, philosophy, law, anthropology, and other humanities disciplines in Idaho.
