Spirits of the Salmon River
The wild and rugged Salmon River Canyon has been home to a variety of people, from outlaws to miners, trappers to homesteaders. For some, the Salmon River truly became the “River of No Return,” as they died and were buried along its edge. In her presentation, Kathy Deinhardt Hill relates the stories of thirty-five of those whose marked gravesites can be found along the river from North Fork to White Bird. She describes the details of their lives, including what drew them to the Salmon River, what made them stay, and what caused their deaths in the rugged Idaho Wilderness. In addition to the biographical vignettes of each individual, the slide presentation also features the unique grave markers that can be found along the river.
