“Vignettes and Backstories…. The Intermediary: William Craig Among the Nez Perces”
Following William Craig’s footsteps, the audience is introduced to some landscapes and people he knew when European and Native American cultures came together in the Rocky Mountains and Interior Northwest. Trade during the 1800s is brought to life by languages used as people from different places began living together and/or doing business with one another: Nimiiputimpt, Chinook Jargon, English, French. There are vignettes and photos of some of the people William Craig knew, photos of some of the places he and his Nimiipuu wife, Pahtissah, frequented and how those places look today. Backstories relegated to footnotes or brief mention in The Intermediary are brought to life as illustrations are narrated by the author. There are photos of some of the Craig descendants, as well as those who helped the author with the research of the Craig family.
